Dog Games, Tips & Tricks

Hi there!  I'm Digby!

Hi! I'm Digby!Yay! My job at DB Dog Shop is to help pass along some tips, tricks and other fun stuff that I can think of.

The first thing is to tell you a little about me. I'm what's called a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier.  Our breed comes from Ireland where we worked on farms keeping the vermin down, working cattle, protecting people and their property.  I like chasing after chipmunks and squirrels really.  I haven't caught one yet so I don't know what will happen when I do.

Well now that I think about it, I did give a couple of little baby skunks a ride around the back yard in my mouth.  My people were chasing after me and yelling and yelling.  They finally caught me and made some really funny faces while they tried to open up my mouth. They kept saying "That's not yours" and "Release."  I didn't hurt the baby skunk. He was a little slimy though. My cheek had a kinda funny smell afterwords too.

We Wheatens came to Massachusetts first in the 1940s so we haven't been in the United States as long as some of our other Terrier cousins. Wheatens are happy dogs with a medium to high energy level, we like to be with our people and we're expert face washers!  We like everyone we meet and just have to say "Hello."  I like to lean too.

I have to be careful around little kids cause I get excited and don't know my own strength. Plus, I can jump straight up at times. I accidentally knocked a couple kids down one time. Boy was I sorry about that.  When I was young, a little boy came over to see me.  He tasted good!  I think he had a little bit of everything he ate that day on his face and shirt.  I cleaned all that stuff up as best as I could.

My humans get all worried if I escape.  I'm never supposed to be off leash and free to run around.  I have escaped though but I don't get far before they trick me and catch me. I once escaped and ran into a big field being chased after by my human.  I knew he couldn't catch me and I wasn't going to be tricked this time.  Then I saw something in the field behind this fence and ran as fast as I could to see what that was.  I'm not sure what it was because as I got closer and closer it got bigger and bigger.  It was really really big.  Like huge, I tell you.  I got scared and ran back to my human.  He was laughing so hard when I reached him.  What's a horse?  That was the biggest weirdest looking dog I ever saw.

Do you know that I have hair not fur?  So that means I don't shed.  I get haircuts but don't like to sit still long enough for them to finish.  Sometimes I move when I guess I shouldn't.

Enough about me already!  Here's some stuff that I hope you will like.
