Easy Sizing

Muttluks Sizing Chart <-- Click on the Muttluks sizing chart link  and print out the sizing chart. You will want your dog to stand on the paper chart. A second person helping will really make measuring easier.  Make sure the measurement is with the full weight on the front paw.

Choose a size that fits the entire paw including the toe nails but excluding fur. A snug fit is best.  Boots that are too large may slip off.

Materials and Workmanship

Muttluks have been made in Canada since 1993 and they've carefully selected the materials to match the design with their boots.

The All Weather Muttluks are made with a new breathable waterproof fabric called Hydroflex. There is a leather toe cover (in sizes M-XXL) to add protection and durability for larger dogs while the Cordura® Nylon toe cover is used for the smaller dog boots (sizes Itty-Bitty to Small).

The boot bottoms are made from treated, water and salt resistant leather. Inside the boot there is no fleece lining.

They then added 3M Scotchlite™ reflective material on the back of the self-tightening Hook & Loop straps. While the Velcro straps allow for an easy, secure and quick fastening that ensures a snug and comfortable fit, the 3M Scotchlite reflective material provides safety for dogs by offering nighttime visibility.

An elastic cuff is also included that extends up the leg to further protect any fringes of fur or hair on the dogs leg.

Fitting Instructions

Your dog will best acclimatize to Muttluks outdoors so be ready to go.
  • Take the dog boot and open the hook and loop fastener.
  • Stand over your dog and slip the Muttluks on from behind the dog.
  • Bunch up the cuff and pull the Muttluk over the paw.
  • Hold the dog's elbow with one hand and wiggle the boot with the other hand.
  • Pull the hook and loop strap TIGHTLY around the boot and press shut.
    • Hook and loop must fasten at the ankle
  • Cut off excess loop strap if desired.
  • Take your dog outside and enjoy.
If your dog has never worn boots, try not to laugh at them when you first put them on.

Washing Instructions

  • Close hook and loop strap.
  • Machine wash in cold water
  • Tumble dry
  • Re-treat leather with cream or spray waterproofing periodically or after each wash

About Mukluks and Muttluks

The name Muttluks is derived from the sealskin or reindeer-skin boot worn by the Eskimo. The term mukluk is often used for any soft boot designed for cold weather and modern designs are often similar to high-top "Athletic shoes."
