The Target Stick is a folding aluminum rod that fits in your purse or pocket.
Teach your dog or any other pet to reach for and touch the end of the target, for a click and treat. Then you can use the target to teach the dog to go to bed, get in the car, stand still for the veterinary, or walk on a loose leash, all without pulling and jerking.

Getting Started

  1. Extend your Target Stick and hold the tip one inch from your dog's nose.  As the dog sniffs the tip, click.  Move the tip away, give a small treat.  Repeat 5 times.
  2. Move tip one inch to the side, so you dog has to turn his head.  Click when he touches his nose to the tip.  Remove the tip, give a treat. Repeat 5 times.
  3. Hold the tip further away, click as the dog moves towards even before he touches it.  This teaches the dog to follow the tip.
  4. When the dog follows confidently, lead the dog over small obstacles, through a hoop, or into a Beg or Spin.  Be sure to click for small steps at first.
